what does the science say?

book by Candace b. pert entitled molecules of emotion

Scientific research indicates that the body functions as an interconnected whole, with complex systems collaborating to maintain our safety and well-being. These intricate systems constantly communicate through sensations, chemical reactions, and emotions. Neuropeptides, often referred to as "molecules of emotion," influence the chemistry and electrical activity of every cell in our mind and body. Our feelings can literally alter the electrical frequencies we generate, creating a form of nonverbal communication. This growing understanding reveals that our health is intricately tied to all our relationships—both personal and social. Emotional stress plays a significant role in physical illness, as the brain and the body's systems that process emotions are closely linked to the hormonal, nervous, and immune systems.

As Dr. Gabor Maté observes, “One may wish to explore and accept the full range of medical treatments available—yet it’s crucial to recognize that these are not the only options. When the time is right and a person is ready, exploring how one has lived can provide valuable insights for change, greatly enhancing one’s quality of life, whether or not a serious disease is present.”

MBR employs somatic techniques to connect with authentic emotions in the form of bodily sensations, using that information to guide clients toward necessary actions in their lives. This approach aims to shift behavioral patterns often rooted in trauma, addressing the underlying causes of the symptoms being experienced.

“all emotions, even those that are suppressed and unexpressed, have physical effects. unexpressed emotions tend to stay in the body like small ticking time bombs-They are illnesses in incubation.”

Lee climbing a rock face full of health after recovering with the mind body reconnect technique

Lee Murphy
MindBody Reconnect Practitioner

Hello! I’m Lee, originally from England and now happily married, living in sunny Southern California. My journey began with a degree in music, where I played the bass guitar professionally. This passion opened doors for me, such as opportunities working on ‘the West End’ in london and collaborating with some very talented musicians and touring around the world. After a fulfilling decade in the music industry, I decided to retire and pursued my long-standing love for fitness by becoming a certified instructor.

Growing up in and around gyms, I’ve always been passionate about fitness and nutrition. Working at my family's gym was a joy, as I helped clients achieve their fitness goals. However, after facing my own battle with Fibromyalgia, I found a new purpose: helping others regain their health in a transformative way through the MindBody Reconnect technique.

Witnessing my clients' journeys to wellness and the joy that comes with it is truly fulfilling. Now, I enjoy a vibrant life filled with activities I love—volunteering, playing and writing music, mountain biking, hiking, and working out. I’m excited to continue adding to my list of joyful pursuits, and I genuinely hope to inspire the same for everyone I coach. Together, we can navigate your path to wellness and rediscover the activities that bring you happiness!

“the more emotionally repressed we are, the less we can say “no” to the world’s demands, the more we take on, the more stressed we also become. It’s that stress, then, that contributes to the onset of disease in a major way” - Dr. Gabor Mate
